UPDATE SUMMER 2022
When we finished with that, it only made sense to use the 'extra' (our neighbors fence boards) to create a wanescotting. It looked so good, I convinced Dave to sheetrock above it.
It was all over after that. This project was well on its way to being a remodel.
After we added bees to our little microfarm, I thought itd be fun to have a honeycomb themed tile in the kitchenette area. I have always loved MSI tile products as theyre so unique and easy to work with. This style is called Icelandic Honeycomb. Its a variety of pale greens and white.

Above the kitchen and bathroom, we used a white nickel gap style shiplap. After clear coating the fence boards it seemed a bit darker than I expected, so the white helped brighten it up, with a less rustic (and more washable finish). I also liked that it maintained the same line at 5 1/2 inches width with an 1/4 inch cover. We were sure to use primer and a several coats of nice washable semigloss paint.
